NRPS (05) VACANCY – CAPT, RAO, HQ
29 (LAND SUPPORT) ENGINEER GROUP, ALDERSHOT (SUBJECT TO FINANCIAL
APPROVAL FROM HQ LAND)
1. Unit: HQ 29 (Land Support) Engineer Group
2. Location: Buller Barracks, Aldershot
3. Rank/Appointment: Capt, RAO
4. Post Vacant: July 2008
5. Starting Salary: Circa £31k per annum
6. NRPS (05). The post comes under the new terms and
conditions of service called NRPS (05). These differ from the
current NRPS terms of service in that, under NRPS (05), the tenure
of the appointment will be for a period of 5 years, at the end of
which the job will be re-advertised, boarded and the most suitable
candidate selected. This may not necessarily be the incumbent. All
appointments to NRPS posts are probationary for the first year.
7. Post Profile. The successful applicant will take
the lead and be responsible for the co-ordination of all G1 and G8
matters for the HQ and the Group as directed by the Deputy Chief of
Staff. This will include: the supervision of all regular, TA and
civilian pay and documentation issues; responsibility for the HQ and
Group budget as the Cost Centre Resource Manager; Resettlement,
Welfare, and Unit Records Officer; Civilian Line Manager and the
Unit Equality and Diversity Advisor.
8. Essential Qualifications:
a. Knowledge and experience of JPA and G1 pay and
personnel administration.
b. Knowledge and experience of G8 budgetary matters.
c. Staff experience in a HQ.
9. Desirable Qualifications:
a. Knowledge of FORGE and TA administration.
b. Welfare and E&D qualified.
c. Civilian Line Manager.
10. Age on Appointment/Retirement: Upper age limit
for appointment is the day preceding an applicant’s 55th birthday.
The effective date for normal retirement will be at the five year
point or the day preceding an individual’s 60th birthday.
11. Eligibility: A successful applicant should have
served as an officer with the regular army, TA or other equivalent
service and have military experience suitable for the post. TA Regs
allows Warrant Officers to apply for officer posts where the Warrant
Officer has military experience suitable for the appointment. In
this circumstance, the Warrant Officer is required to:
a. Produce evidence of such suitable military
experience.
b. Be (or have been) substantive in Warrant Officer rank.
c. Produce evidence of a current recommendation for
commission; this
may be in the form of a recent confidential report or a
recent letter from the applicant’s current Commanding Officer (of at
least Lt Col rank).
TA Regs also allows applications for officer posts
from personnel who do not hold (or have not held) a commission or
the rank of substantive Warrant Officer. Such applications are only
accepted in exceptional circumstances and after prior reference to
DM(A) and the Arm/Service Directorate concerned. The exceptional
circumstances must be fully justified.

to demonstrate that the applicant meets the requisite skills,
qualities and experience.

16. The Final Selection Board will be held soon

Bde by this date/time, for whatever reason will not be considered.
The successful applicant will be expected to take up the appointment
as soon as is practicable.
